CS Team Meeting
Last week all of the core Community Server dev team members met in Dallas at the Telligent offices to celebrate the CS 2.0 launch and strategize about goals/plans for CS 2.1 and CS 3.0. The CS Team is spread out all over the country, so in-person meetings involve lots of planning and are pretty rare. Scott flew in from New Jersey, Ben from Michigan, Jose from California, Dan from Wisconsin, Alex from Michigan, Ken from California, and James from Atlanta.
In the immediate future we are going to begin working on CS 2.1, code-name Johnny, which will mainly be bug-fixes to any issues discovered in CS 2.0. A couple small new features will probably included, but the goal is to release CS 2.1 fairly quickly so we can begin the much bigger task of CS 3.0.
Community Server 3.0 is going to be huge and contain many big improvements over CS 2.0, including the integration of CMS functionality. CS 3.0 will also be the first Community Server branch to be developed in ASP.NET 2.0 from the start. At the team meetings we came up with a long list of things we want to do for 3.0. As usual the difficult part will be in fitting in as much as possible while still shipping in a reasonable time frame.
On Thursday, February 23, I brough my digital camera along to take pictures of the Telligent offices and the CS Team. You can see them in the in the photo gallery.

We are getting really really close to shipping Community Server 2007. Yesterday we put Release Candidate
