The First Vista Updates
I just saw on Neowin that the first batch of updates for Windows Vista were released today.
There are 5 important updates, 18 optional (mostly language packs), and 2 ulmate extras. So I fired up my Windows Update, checked for new ones, and there they were.
I have been running Windows Vista RTM on my laptop (my primary box) for a few months now. And for just about as long I've been anxiously waiting for Microsoft to push out the first Vista bug fixes and compatibility updates. I'm loving Vista, but explorer and IE have been crashing too frequently - much more frequently than on Windows XP. Although I suspect that some of the apps I have installed may be the primary cause as not all of them have been tested/verified with Vista.
After weeks went by and there were still no Vista updates (other than a couple device drivers and IE7 stuff), I figured Microsoft was waiting until the general consumer launch in late January before throwing the early adopters a bone. And now that the launch is here we finally have the first updates, woot!
