I'm a software development engineer on the product team at Telligent Systems. I joined Telligent on June 1, 2005, and have enjoyed being part of the growth from a 15 person startup team of almost all developers to an enterprise-class software company. Over the years I've had the opportunity to work on all of Telligent's core products: Community Server 1.1 and up, Graffiti CMS, Enterprise Reporting 1.0 (now Telligent Analytics), Telligent Evolution, Telligent Community, and Telligent Enterprise. I am very passionate about improving my craft as a developer and my technical knowledge. And I love building awesome applications and platforms with really smart team mates.
I went to college at Florida Institute of Technology from 1995 through 1999 majoring in Space Science / Astrophysics, along with some Computer Science classes. I had wanted to be a physicist and astronaut since the third grade, and selected a university and major based upon that. Computer programming was something I did for fun. But with the explosion of the internet at the time, I realized during my junior year that while I love science - especially physics - programming was what I was destined to do. So I jumped into the world of software development without looking back.
I have been writing software for fun since I was a kid, and professionally since college. I started out learning BASIC on a Commodore VIC-20, later replaced by an Atari 800 XL. In high school I progressed to QBASIC in DOS and bought my first programming book with the money I earned from my first part time job. At Florida Tech, I first learned Fortran and then took a few CS classes with Ada. Meanwhile I started learning ColdFusion and building web applications for fun and profit. My current framework and language of choice are .NET and C#.
Personal
I have a wonderful wife Megan and three adorable girls: my nine year old stepdaughter Mackenzie, three year old daughter Jillian, and my one year old daughter Cadence. We also have a black Schnauzer puppy named Peyton.
I was born and grew up in Fort Myers, Florida and lived in Florida until I met Megan and moved north to Pennsylvania in 2000. We got married and lived in northern Delaware, a very tiny and cold state nudged in between Maryland and Pennsylvania, for a few years. In August 2005 the Harder family took their wagons west and moved to Dallas, Texas. We currently live in the lovely and super fast growing city of Frisco to the north of Dallas.
I'm a Parrot Head who also likes listening to country, rock, and dance music. Back when I lived near warm water I enjoyed scuba diving and boating. Now I try to drag my family camping every once in a while, and we enjoy traveling. I love football and basketball, and root for the good ol' Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Orlando Magic. If I think of any other random useless bits of info I'll add them here...
